STRAIGHTOUT were formed in May 1998 by Pipink(Guitar) and Muy(Vocal). Influenced by HardCore bands such as Earth Crisis and Strife as a start. As they went through lots of changes, the band released their first full-lenght album Undying Beauty and the Symphony of Sadness in 2003, with a line up-Pipink(Guitar), Rendy(Guitar), Bayu(Vocal), Donny(Keyboard), Sonny(Bass), and Benny(Drums). The album provides harmonically powerful guitar riffs, heavy hitting on drums, gothic aura from the keyboard, and emotional sreamming and melodious notes from the vocal and the female backing vocal (Rebecca). They deliver true emotions as a Gothical Metal Hard Core band through the album...as they blow up the audience into moshpits every single time they hit the stage. In 2005 the line up changed..Donny is replaced by the new keyboardist-Mella and Rendi is replaced by Danny-the former guitarist of a "InnerRock-Metal" band Perfect Minors. The changes didn't make StraightOut any less-powerful...thay even keep rockin the stage harder then they used too... Jakarta - Mei 1998. Dari sela-sela kerusuhan nasional, terbentuklah Straightout yang diprakarsai oleh Mui (vocals) dan Pipinx (guitars). Pada awal musikalitasnya, Straightout di pengaruhi oleh band-band Hardcore seperti Earth Crisis dan strife. Namun seiring dengan berjalannya waktu, perjalanan panggung dan pergantian line-up yang tidak sedikit, mereka tidak lagi memainkan Hardcore. Pengaruh musikal mereka bergeser ke arah Band Metal macam Hamartia, Dead Blue Sky, Arch Enemy, The Black Dahlia Murder, Iron Maiden, hingga Cradle of Filth.
Straightout memiliki suatu ciri sendiri dalam bermusik, bernuansa kelam, sorrow, dan juga megah. Dipadati dengan tempo yang cepat, fill-in dan melodi-melodi yang kritis. Dari dentingan piano dan alunan gundah suara wanita. Hingga sayatan-sayatan gitar yang tebal mendalam. Diiringi oleh derasnya hentakan drum dan disuarai oleh teriakan pilu yang menggeram. Ketika perform, Straightout pun memiliki aksi panggung yang cukup sulit untuk dideskripsikan melalui tulisan semata. Mereka sangguh enerjik dan atraktif. Dari mengayun, memutar, ber-crowd surfing dengan gitar atau pun bass mereka, hingga melemparkannya instrument mereka ke kelantai.
Mengenai sejarah personil, Straightout juga memiliki latar belakang yang cukup unik. Di drumi oleh Beni, yang merupakan seorang penabuh drum dari The Upstairs, yang merupakan band pionir Nuwave asal Jakarta. Serta Rebecca pada female voice, adalah seorang wanita berparas cantik dengan suara khas dan indah, yang sebelumnya juga sempat menjadi personil dari The Upstairs, dan juga grup dansa elektronik, Goodnight Electric.
